Chelsea is not bothered and assured of the future of Moises Caicedo, even after a recent disturbance in his representation. The Ecuadorian midfielder was this week definitively cleared to have left his former agents. But the club does not appear to mind and is convinced that the issue will not cause a ripple in his long-term stay at Stamford Bridge.
Moises Caicedo Change of agent at Chelsea
Caicedo stated that his representation contract with agent Manuel Sierra expired on 14 August 2025 and Ali Barat doesn’t represent him either. In his since-deleted post, he indicated that he would instead name people he can trust — reportedly, relatives. The wording was described by observers as awkwardly disparaging of his previous agents, although no public animosity has been verified.
Rumours All Around
In spite of reports stemming from the agent switch, Chelsea have shown calm. They allegedly are not concerned that the transition indicates imminent departure or instability. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports the agent switch is “not linked” to any future movement away from Chelsea and that Caicedo is committed to his current club. The club is reportedly negotiating a new contract to reward his sustained performances, although his present deal runs until 2031 (with a 2032 option). Performance is vindicating the trust.
Caicedo is producing consistent, good performances week in week out. This is giving huge confidence to Chelsea. He is currently one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League at the moment. Caicedo put in a masterful midfield performance against Benfica. He won duels, intercepted most passes, and created opportunities in their victory. His consistency has earned him a regular spot in the team, even when under intense pressure and high demands.
Additionally, Caicedo has already proven his durability. He has not missed a game due to injury or illness since December 2023. During the 2024–25 season, he played in all 38 Premier League matches and also helped Chelsea win the UEFA Conference League.
Relaxed Chelsea
Several reasons appear behind Chelsea’s relaxed attitude:
1. Long contract security. Caicedo is under a long contract. That provides Chelsea negotiating power and patience.
2. Performance value. His contribution warrants belief: he’s at the heart of the team’s engine room. Losing him would be a blow.
3. Agent switch not uncommon. Nowadays, footballers switch agents with no previous plans of a transfer. Romano employed the instance of other footballers who made such transitions.
4. In-house contract negotiations. Chelsea had already negotiated with him earlier (with his former agents) to better his terms.
5. No obvious external developments. Although there are rumors that he will move to clubs such as Real Madrid, there has been no definite move announced. Chelsea doesn’t interpret the agency switch as an sign of exit.
Risks and watch-points
Nothing is ever risk-free. Openly changing agents can fuel speculation. Some might see Caicedo’s comment (about “people he can trust”) as a veiled criticism of previous representation. Opponent clubs will always keep an eye on a top midfield prospect. If things become worse at Chelsea or new bidders make huge bids, pressure could increase. But for the moment, there is no indication of panic at Stamford Bridge.
One other matter worth noting: the agent change may complicate future contract negotiations, since the new representatives (if family or fresh agents) must quickly align with Chelsea on valuation, demands, and timing.
Author’s Insight
With all existing evidence in mind, Chelsea’s position is that they have no concern about the future of Caicedo is believable. The club has grounds to think the current status is under control. His form, contract term, and intra-club negotiations all indicate stability as opposed to upheaval. At least for the moment, Moisés Caicedo is still fully embedded at Chelsea and will give his best. The club holds on to confidence that he remains on track.
