Chelsea young star Shumaira “Shim” Mheuka delivered another dazzling performance for the club’s academy, scoring his second hat-trick of the season in a UEFA Youth League clash at Cobham. He did this all while Cole Palmer watched from the stands.
Shim Mhueka Brilliant Performance: Chelsea Kid
On a bright afternoon, Chelsea Under-19s beat Benfica’s youth side 5–2, with Mheuka leading the charge. He opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a foul inside the box, converting with cool confidence. Benfica equalized before half time, but Chelsea struck back in the second half. Mheuka added a second penalty, then completed his hat-trick by heading in from a cross.
In addition, Mheuka also recorded one assist — making his overall contribution even more impressive. Chelsea’s substitutes added two more goals (by Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Kobe Barbour) to seal the result.
Cole Palmer, still sidelined with a groin issue, was in attendance, keen to see the youth talent in action. His presence was highlighted by media reports connecting him to the game.
Shim Mhueka Career and Achievements
This is not Mheuka’s first hat-trick of the season. Earlier, he wowed fans and coaches by scoring a treble in a Premier League 2 match. That earlier hat-trick helped him to Premier League 2 Player of the Month honours in August.
So far this campaign at youth level, he has been in superb form — 10 goals in eight games across competitions. He has already made glimpses into first-team action: he came on as a substitute in a Carabao Cup tie against Lincoln City.
Born in 2007 and developed originally at Brighton before moving to Chelsea’s academy, Mheuka is widely regarded as one of the most promising young forwards in England. The comparisons to Palmer, in terms of composure and goal sense, are drawing attention.
Author’s Insight
If he keeps playing this way, it will not be long before Mheuka becomes a fixture in Chelsea’s senior squad. Maybe this can be a turning point in his career.
