Jackson to stay at Bayern through winter transfer window

Bayern Munich

Chelsea striker Nicholas Jackson is most likely staying at Bayern Munich through the winter transfer window, according to sources. Jackson is not interested in ending his season-long loan spell. The Senegal man made a loan move to Bayern in late August from Chelsea. He has played in 8 league games and has scored 1 goal. Jackson is willing to stay back in Germany despite low game time.

Jackson’s time at Chelsea

Nicolas Jackson’s time in London was a mixed bag. The 24-year-old spent three years at Chelsea. He managed to score 30 goals in 81 appearances. His career at Chelsea began well in the 23/24 season. With 17 goals and 6 assists in that season, his future at Chelsea looked promising. However, the next two seasons showed a drop in performance from Jackson, as he was no longer clinical in front of the goal.

Bayern Munich then made a surprise move to loan in Jackson in late August. It was a move that was to strengthen their bench. The decision also strengthened Bayern’s already dangerous attack.

The transfer saga

Jackson’s loan move from Chelsea to Bayern was not a smooth one. It was a back-and-forth saga that left all parties in a difficult situation. Immediately after landing in Munich, Chelsea tried to end the move. Their primary striker, Liam Delap, got injured, leaving the Blues with only one striker in the squad. Despite the situation Senegal attacker was clear in his decision to move to Germany.

Furthermore, Ali Barat, Jackson’s agent, publicly called the situation as “deeply frustrating”. However, he managed to fight the situation and delivered Jackson his desired move.

Disappointment at Bayern

After making the move, Jackson hasn’t had a particularly pleasant time at Bayern. Under manager Vincent Kompany, he has struggled to receive game time. In the 8 games he has played, he has only started 2 games. The 24-year-old has been a disappointment so far since making the move to Germany.

Despite Jackson’s poor form, Bayern Munich have been flying this season. They have remained unbeaten so far in the league. With 9 wins and 1 draw in 10 games, they sit atop the Bundesliga table. Bayern have also shattered the goal tally by scoring 35 goals and conceding only 10 in their 10 league games.

Difficult loan situation

โ€œIt was tough; a tough time. Difficult moments in those last days. But I was very confident I would stay here because this is where I want to play and want to be. It was very tough, but in the end we got it, so I’m very glad.โ€ Jackson stated during his unveiling at Bayern. Despite his preference to represent Bayern, and his captivating words at the unveiling, Jackson’s performances have not guaranteed a permanent move.

Bayern have already started looking at other options for their attack, keeping Jackson away from their plans. One of their top targets is Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. They have been monitoring Vlahovic for a while now and are looking to sign him up in January. Their other targets include FC Midtjylland forward Franculino Dju.

Conclusion

Jackson has failed to make any impression following his shock loan move. As certain clauses will have to be met for Jackson to make his move permanent, it looks highly unlikely that Jackson will get to receive a permanent move to Germany. Other than the clauses, the performance hasn’t been up to the mark from the Senegal striker either. With Jackson wanting to stay through the loan spell, and Bayern not interested in activating the option to buy, this is proving to be a difficult time for the player.
