Saka,‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Eze, and Hincapié Shine on International Duty

The international pause has pretty much brightened the days of three distinguished footballers: Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze — both of England — and Piero Hincapié from Ecuador. Their work makes us realize how essential it is to have a deep bench and new vigor as the teams prepare for the big event.

England’s Firm Footing: Saka and Eze Deliver Again

The rain couldn’t stop the action at Wembley where England overcame Serbia 2–0, thus, they are perfect in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign so far.

Bukayo Saka was the one to break the deadlock in the 28th minute. Declan Rice took a free-kick; the ball was deflected and found Saka who didn’t hesitate — without any delay he aimed a very accurate volley into the goal. He can tackle difficult situations. This is why he is considered to be one of the best.

The second goal was scored in stoppage time. The final touch was by Eberechi Eze. After a great passing move between Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, Eze fired a first-time shot round the keeper’s hand to make sure of the victory.

Thomas Tuchel, England’s coach, was impressed with the performance and energy of the players off the bench who brought about the change in the game and thus their ‘another good performance’ remark although the qualification was already in the bag. Saka agreed with the idea, characterizing the campaign as a “very successful” one because of the fact that they managed to achieve a perfect record. Eze, on the other hand, said that such competitions in the squad push each player to work harder which is a positive sign as England is preparing for the finals next summer.

Moreover, England can also be happy about their defensive performance as their clean sheet record in seven qualifier matches has now reached seven.

Hincapie: Representing Ecuador

Piero Hincapie is a talented Ecuadorian defender. Now he is in limelight for some reasons. Not long ago he came to Arsenal on a year-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen. There is an option in the contract reportedly, allowing Arsenal to make the deal permanent for approximately £45 million.

Hincapie is not new to the Ecuador national team. He has already played in over 46 matches. The fact that he is well known internationally is a big plus for Arsenal. Manager Mikel Arteta has also mentioned his “physical presence” and “tactical flexibility.” He is an important figure in their defense.

Hincapie for Ecuador

In his first game in the Premier League, Hincapie set a record. He became the first Ecuadorian who ever played for Arsenal in the top tier of English football. This is a very important landmark for Hincapie and Ecuadorian football as well.

While his national team hasn’t benefited from any great performances from him during this break (unlike Saka and Eze), Hincapié’s transfer to Arsenal is a clear sign that people are recognizing and trusting his talent. It is quite probable that his role will become larger. His international status will be an asset both to his club and to Ecuador.

Eberechi Eze for England

Eze has joined Arsenal this summer from Crystal Palace for 70 million Euros. So far in this season, he has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists for Arsenal.

In the recent international break, England had to face Serbia and Albania. Eze featured in both of these matches. In the first match against Serbia, he played 90 minutes and scored a goal. The 27-year-old did give a decent performance against Albania. He was substituted after 62 minutes.

Author’s Insight

It was not very much of a break for these three during this international window. It was rather their chance to speak loudly through their actions. And, certainly, they did ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌it.
