Fabrizio Romano Reveals Liverpool’s Decision Regarding Arne Slot

Liverpool FC

Fabrizio Romano has recently disclosed Liverpool’s decision regarding Arne Slot keeping his position as Liverpool’s manager. Amidst the recent disappointing form of the Reds, there have been rumors about the club sacking Slot. The fans have also started questioning the manager after a string of bad performances. Liverpool’s recent humiliating loss against Nottingham Forest has made the situation even worse.

Fabrizio Romano About Arne Slot and His Current Position in the Club

One of the most trusted reporters in the world of football, Fabrizio Romano, has decided to come out and clear the rumors surrounding Arne Slot. According to him, Arne Slot’s job is not in danger, at least as of now. The club has decided to trust and back him after last season’s title-winning performance.

On his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said, “At the moment, I don’t have any sort of information on Liverpool owners deciding to take a decision imminently on Arne Slot. So, Liverpool are not thinking about changing the manager now.” He further mentioned that the club are currently “not in talks with any other manager or considering the possibility to fire the coach.”

However, the club’s decision to back him does not mean they are overlooking the recent performance. The club still wants to see better results. As Romano said, the club wants to see “different kinds of results” from Slot and the team as they carry heavy expectations. Liverpool is a squad of champions and exceptionally talented players, which directly comes with expectations.

The Struggle to Defend the Title

Liverpool’s title charge last season was a spectacular one. Arne Slot’s debut season ended in a fairytale with him lifting the Premier League trophy. The last season saw Liverpool winning 25 out of 38 games with only 4 losses. However, their decline this season is rather horrifying. The club has been struggling to grab even a single point by drawing the games.

After 12 games, the Reds are currently sitting in 11th position in the Premier League table. The club has managed to grab only 18 points. Meanwhile, Arsenal are leading the league with 29 points by winning 9 out of 12 games. The defending champions are not even in the top 10 this season.

Liverpool has conceded 20 goals and scored only 20 this season. This has put the club into a negative goal difference. This goal difference speaks volumes about the questionable defending and the lack of goals. The Reds have already lost 6 games this season, compared to their 4 losses last season.

£450 Million Wasted?

The scrutiny is directly linked to the club’s huge transfer expenditure during the summer window. Liverpool had a record-breaking transfer window with multiple signings. These summer signings combined for about £450 million in total. Slot brought the signings with a strategy. He wanted to refresh the aging squad with young talent. However, that strategy hasn’t quite worked out so far. The signings might have done more damage than advantage.

Jeremie Frimpong, Isak Alexander, and Florian Wirtz have all fallen prey to injuries. Instead of adding to the goal and assists, half of these expensive signings have only added to the injury count. Even when they’re not injured, they haven’t managed to make a significant impact in the games. The players have combined for only 6 goals and assists in the Premier League. This is a disappointing performance from the signings.

Author’s Opinion

If the Liverpool owners are showing loyalty, they expect better results in return. Arne Slot has to figure out a way to get back on the winning track soon to help the club keep this loyalty. The upcoming games will be vital for Slot to reignite the club and the fans’ confidence in his leadership.
