What to do if you’re not feeling the need to get out of bed

In winter, our body doesn’t want to get out of bed and wants to sleep for a longer time. This happens because of the freezing temperatures and lack of sunlight.

These two factors can upset our circadian rhythm which can ultimately make us feel that we do need to get more sleep and not wake up on cold, foggy mornings. But, there are some things that we can do to make our bodies and minds active.

Dr Jyoti Kapoor, Founder-Director and Senior Psychiatrist of Manasthali has shared some useful tips on how to remove laziness from our minds and bodies.

Steps in which laziness and unproductiveness can be removed from our lifestyle

Here are some simple methods that you can easily fit into your winter schedule to get better equipped throughout the day.

Have specific goals for the day

Start by writing down a specific goal for the day. Moreover, it should be such that you can achieve it throughout the day. Examples include completing any small task, increasing your progress on a project, or just going for a short walk.

Start doing mindfulness or meditation

Engaging in mindfulness or meditation can start activating your body and mind to combat the upcoming day ahead of you.

Have a set morning routine

When you have a proper morning schedule, it makes it easier for you to leave the cozy confines of your bed. It should be any activity such as a morning walk or doing a bit of journaling.

Start imagining success

Furthermore, you should also start visualizing your successes when you get out of bed and start being productive as well.

Start small

Finally, if you feel that tackling a full day ahead head-on can cause you burnout, you can break up your day into smaller portions and do the tasks for that specific hour of the day.

Thus, these are some of the steps that can be followed easily and will allow you to get out of bed easily and not just laze around like a potato.
